Base pay
Everyone on the team earns at least $12 an hour. Tips are paid on top of that, never instead of it.
What goes into the pool
All tips left by guests: card tips, cash tips, and tips on online and to-go orders. Everything goes into one shared pool for each business day. A business day runs from opening to closing, so tips after midnight on Friday and Saturday count toward that day.
How the pool is shared
Each role has a number of points per hour worked:
- Kitchen Lead
- 2.0
- Bartender
- 1.4
- Cashier
- 1.2
- Line Cook
- 1.0
- Baker
- 1.0
- Food Runner
- 1.0
- Prep Cook
- 0.8
- Dishwasher
- 0.8
Your points for the day are your hours worked times your role's points. The day's pool is divided by the total points of everyone who worked, and each person receives their points times that amount. Hours come from the time clock.
Example: a bartender works 8 hours (8 × 1.4 = 11.2 points) and a dishwasher works 8 hours (8 × 0.8 = 6.4 points).
Together they have 17.6 points.
If that day's tips are $176, each point is worth $10: the bartender receives $112 and the dishwasher $64.
Who is not in the pool
Owners and managers. They are paid separately and never receive tips.
When tips are paid
Tips are paid with your regular paycheck and shown on your pay stub.
